COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM
The Community Service program aims to improve students to be responsible citizens both in Turkey and around the world, aims to increase their love of nature and aims to teach the students through real life experiences.
These community services take place on many levels through education and creative workshops in day care centers and state schools (drama, computer skills, creative problem solving, English, music, getting ready to take SBS exams etc.), support to disabled people, working together with local establishments (cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations and memberships), showing an interest in the residents of Foster Care Group Homes and Homes for the Elderly.

SOME OF THE INSTUTIONS AND ORGANISATIONS WE SUPPORT
· We continue to carry on tree planting campaigns together with Aegean Forest Foundation
· Our kindergarten branches have carried out various activities and have planted hundreds of trees for TEMA Foundation
· Every year we adopt a FOSTER SEAL from AFAG in the name of our 1st Grade students
· Our memberships at TURÇEV are renewed every year for Eco School and Forest Education in Schools programs
· ‘PAPER AT SCHOOL’ PROJECT: Our ‘Paper at School’ project from previous years will continue to go on this year. The students will continue to collect paper and cardboard in the separate bins found in the classroom which will then be moved to the paper collection area behind the school. We will continue to deliver the collected papers to the concerning institutions and establishmentsto support recycling.
· WORLD WILDLIFE FUND – Turkey: This year as our school theme is Bio Diversity we will work together with WWF-Turkey, who aims to protect the bio diversity of Turkey and keep up the use of natural resources.
· ASSOCIATION FOR THE SUPPORT OF CONTEMPORARY LIVING: As Gelişim College we support the projects of the Association for the Support of Contemporary Living that carry out projects to support students, who do have enough financial support from their families, to become open minded individuals with futures.
· AEGEAN CONTEMPORARY EDUCATION FOUNDATION (EÇEV): With the motto ‘From knowledge to skill / school to life’ and making educational programs come to life, EÇEV supports education and us as a school take part in this program and every year we give an educational scholarship to a student. We will continue our collaborative work with EÇEV.
OUR SOCIAL CAMPAING AND PROJECTS:
· As contributing to EÇEV we give full scholarship for a year to a student who graduated from Teaching Social Sciences and is now a senior student in Radio and Television Department. The recipient of this scholarship will also have a 2 day work experience at the school.
· Support to AğrıPatnos YİBOwith novels, books, notebooks and stationary needs)
· Support to a Nursery School in Balıkesir with children’s clothes, shoes, stationary, equipment and toys.
· We have helped KİTVAK (Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation) by selling bookmarks in the name of the foundation.
· We have carried out collaborative activities towards the students on Ulukent Primary School
ENVIROMENTAL AND ECOLOGIC CAMPAINGS AND PROJECTS
· Turmepa Foundation membership has been renewed.
· We have adopted a Foster Seal from AFAG in the name of our 1st grade students
· We have planted our 4th woods in Seferihisar by planting 1000 trees.
· TÜRÇEV membership has been renewed.
· We had a training from ÇEVKO on Recycling, Solid Waste and How to Revalue Used Packaging. A book titled ‘The Environmental Cat and Recycling’ was given out to 1st and 2nd graders and another titles ‘Solid Waste and How to Revalue Used Pacaging’ was given out to 3-5th graders. In a meeting hour ‘What is waste?’,’How much waste do we produce?’ and ‘recycling’ were discussed.
· We participated in the 10. National Eco-Schools Seminar conducted on 17-19 December 2009
· Our Recycling Project in coordination with IZGEP continues intensively.
· We have planted 20 oak trees with the help of Tema Foundation
· The Paper Workshop has begun to produce new products with recycled paper.
